Read an AMR or AMI technology water meter with a local visual wall mount remote display

Posted by Mark Beatty on

There are times when the utility and the building owner or tenant BOTH need to read a meter, but with different technologies. This most often comes up when a municipal utility owns the meter and reads with and AMR or AMI transmitter attached to an encoder register, and the building tenant or owner needs to read a meter visually that is inaccessible. The meter may be in an underground vault, in a locked utility closet, a basement, or up too high to access.

A solution to that issue is now available with The Meter Display (TMD). The 3 wire encoder cable can go to the TMD remote for local reading at a convenient location with the push of a button. The output cable can pass through to the utility AMR or AMI radio transmitter. The pass through signal is always on, and the remote has no effect on the ability or frequency the AMR or AMI device reads then encoder register.

This is a solution for Utilities, commercial meters, or submetering companies. The remote can also be used without anything attached to the encoded output port as a standard  universal water meter remote display for most brands and models of industry standard encoder registers. It is built for indoor or outdoor use.

No programming is required. Simply press the read button and the meter reading from the meter will be displayed.
